PDA Handhelds

A Review of the Viewsonic v37 Pocket pc.

Viewsonic is keeping up with competitors by introducing advanced, technology driven PDA's to the market. The Viewsonic pocket pc v37 brings some new functions that other PDA's do not have. Users rave about the advances made by this model and the many uses it allows. It is right in line with other slim, lightweight PDA's. The Viewsonic pocket pc v37 is taking PDA users into the future.

The Viewsonic pocket pc v37 weighs in at 4.8 ounces keeping it comparable to their models. The battery life is reported by Viewsonic to be ten hours. It has a built in camera that can take video or still pictures. It also has a built in jog dial. It comes with the Windows Mobile 2003 operating system. It has 64 MB of RAM and an Intel MHzX Scale processor. Users can input data by using the 4-way touch pad, the accompanying stylus or the touch screen. It comes with IrDA wireless capabilities also. The addition of a camera to a PDA is rather new, but not unexpected as PDA's have been incorporated with cell phones as well, however this feature does seem to catch the eye of the buyer.

Users were very happy with the Viewsonic pocket pc v37. It offered a solid performance, fast speed and great memory abilities. One user even remarked on how strong the screen is as it didn't break when the unit was dropped. The replaceable battery was another perk of the v37. Users loved the camera and really liked the video and pictures it took. They also liked that it was not a stripped down PDA and offered the full version of Windows Mobile 2003. The stylus offers a unique looked that impressed users. Users were happy with the weight and the fact that this PDA was easy to use straight out of the box. They believed overall that the Viewsonic v37 was a good value for your money.

On the other hand there were some issues that users would like Viewsonic to be aware of. The camera and stylus are on the same side which results in fingerprints on the camera lens. Users also complained that with a lot of use the stylus breaks down and has to be replaced. One user had problems with the Microsoft Mobile 2003 operating system being unstable at first. Users also cautioned that if you use up the internal memory that the camera had\s problems functioning and may freeze up. The MP3 player was not comparable to other models. If you do not use it a lot the n it should be okay for that use. These few issues are relative minor and some can be avoidable, like the camera issues. Despite these complaints users still gave the Viewsonic pocket pc v37 a good review.

The bottom line on this PDA is that the new features are great and users were happy with its overall performance. The only recommendations are to upgrade the MP3 player if you like to listen to a lot of music and to download new software onto external memory cards so there are no issues with the camera. It seems as if Viewsonic listened to users and gave them a great product.
