The Zire 21 handheld PDA has a variety of charger types to chose from. Your choice of a charger should be based upon your individual needs. In order to figure out the correct type of charger you need is to look at the different types and their functions. If you own a Zire 21 PDA you will eventually need to charge your battery so figuring out what charger you need will ensure when your battery runs low you can charge it.
The purpose of a charger is to power up the battery when it runs low. There are many different types of chargers. The chargers available for the Zire 21 PDA range from simple to complex. The following list gives the types of chargers and the reason for needing that type.
1. Wall Charger: The common charger that comes with the PDA is for use at home. It plugs into the PDA and then into an electrical outlet in your wall. This type of charger will be enough if you do not travel much with your PDA or if you do not expect to use a lot of your battery power. You can use it to chare your PDA overnight and it will be powered up for the morning. Another form of this type of charger is a cradle. Your PDA sits on the cradle where it is then charged.
2. Car Charger: Most people see a need for this type of charger. It is convenient to use when you are on the go. It plugs into your PDA and then into your cars cigarette lighter. They are relatively inexpensive and if you are using your PDA a lot and usually spend quite a bit of time in your car then it might be a good choice to pick a car charger up.
3. Airplane charger: These special chargers allow you to power your battery while flying. You hook it up much like the other types. If you fly often this may be a good choice. This is especially nice for people who spend long periods of time on airplanes and not much time near an electrical outlet.
These are the three main types of battery chargers. The Zire 21 also has some special chargers that will allow you even more freedom to power your PDA.
The following list explains some additional charger options available for the Zire 21 PDA.
1. Mini Sync: This is a single cable that allows you to charge your battery and synchronize with your PC at the same time. It has a retraction and recoil design to its cable and measures 30 inches long. Chargers that work with this unit are: car charger and wall charger.
2. Direct Sync: This is another unit that allows you to charge and synchronize at the same time. It has a five foot long cord.
3. Versa Charger: This is a combination charger that allows you to charge at home, in the car and on a plane with its special adapter.
4. Battery Adapter: This is a special charger that gives power when the electricity is not working. It is also good if you can not get to a power source, but need your PDA.
These four types of chargers are for someone who uses their PDA for business or otherwise needs it available all the time.
