1. How do you want to enter information into the PDA? There are four main ways that are used to enter information into your PDA - stylus, keyboard, touch screen, touch pad. The stylus is perhaps the best known and most used. A stylus looks like a pen and is used by touching the screen to enter information. The keyboard is just like your computer keyboard only smaller. The addition of a keyboard to a PDA does add size and weight, so consider this. A touch screen works the same as a stylus except you use your finger. 2. How much memory do you need? You need to make sure there will be enough useable memory to download any programs you will need. Usable memory is sometimes not listed, so make sure you know how much memory is actually left for you to use after the initial operating programs are installed.

3. Will you be writing a lot of notes? If you will be writing out a lot of notes on your PDA you need to look at how much character space is on the screen.

4. Will you need accessories? Some PDA's come with a case and chargers, but you may additional chargers or other accessories. The case is important especially if you work around dust or harsh weather conditions where a hard case would offer the best protection. You will also want to consider a car charger that plugs into the cigarette lighter. This way your PDA will always be able to be powered up.
