What You Should Know About Error 31

Getting an error message of any kind while trying to do anything on your PDA is frustrating. Correcting errors is no walk in the park either. Looking around the internet on user message boards I have found that many users are getting an error 31 message when trying to format an SD card for their Ipaq PDA. Error messages are nothing new to the world of computers. This seems to be an all too common message with mixed results when trying to correct it.
The error 31 message appears during formatting and SD card. An SD card is a Secure Digital card that is put into the PDA to add additional memory and other advanced features to a PDA. It allows the PDA to work more independently from the desktop computer. Secure Digital cards are one of the many ways manufacturers are using to advance the uses of a PDA from just a personal organizer or planner to a mini extension of their desktop computers.
During the installation of and SD card users get a prompt to reformat the card. If they select `yes' then error 31 message comes up. If they select `no' the card is left unformatted and therefore unusable. This appears to be a common problem and is not limited to particular SD cards. Users have also seemed to have a hard time figuring out why this error message occurs or any concrete way to fix it.
Some users have had luck just trying to format the SD card a few times. If the error keeps appearing with trying a few different SD cards then the problem may lie with your PDA. This problem seems to more commonly happen with Ipaq's. Some have tried using an outside program like Pocket Mechanic to help identify the problem and solve it. A flash format program also seems to help correctly and completely install the SD card. During research trying to find a solution to the error 31 message it was hard to find an exact remedy or even why this occurs.
Any error message can make you go crazy trying to fix it. It appears that this error 31 is one that will really try your patience. Nobody ever said that technology is easy. As PDA's advance this error will become a thing of the past and today's worries will no longer matter. For right now, though, as you fiddle with your SD card installation and keep getting a repeat of the error 31 message and end up with no results it is no comfort. The only suggests are to try a few outside programs that may help get the SD card formatted or just keep trying to install the SD card and hope for results.
